Although I haven’t had any comments posted on this blog (yet), I have had some reader input.

First, from an old friend and co-worker, Tim Poovey, who went to the trouble to locate for me the place to make the text darker. Saved me some time. Thanks, Tim!

Next, the father (Bill) of one of my students (a viola student) told me about another resource for classical MIDI file downloads at http://www.classicalmidiconnection.com/. The downloads are free (they ask for donations). The selection is pretty good for the genres that they cover, although they don’t have some of the things that you can get on CDSheetMusic.com or Virtual Sheet Music. Classical MIDI Connection doesn’t have the PDF files for sheet music, but with the MIDI files and a program like Finale Printmusic (Finale is a comprehensive music notation program that is not cheap, but here is a site that lists some lower-cost alternatives), you can print your own. Since this is a viola student, the pre-formatted PDFs are not particularly useful, since he needs to transpose everything down a fifth and print out the viola part in C-clef. Thanks, Bill!
